I believe individuals are most effective when they do what they love. I love working one-on-one with students. My favorite part is witnessing the “light bulb moment” when everything clicks!

I specialize in economics and statistics at all levels. I am familiar with the economics and statistics departments at Yale, UPenn, Columbia, UChicago, USC, Michigan, Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford, UCSD, UC Davis, Dartmouth, and others, having tutored students from these universities for many years. I work with all levels of analysis and theory, from AP courses to graduate core theory.

My mother, a kindergarten teacher, instilled the value of education early. I began tutoring math as a volunteer during freshman year of high school after completing calculus in 8th grade. While at Columbia and UC Berkeley, I tutored economics and statistics in university learning centers. After earning my bachelor’s degree, I specialized in tutoring AP economics and statistics students, helping them earn 5s on AP exams. I also have years of experience tutoring special needs students, including those on the spectrum, with ADHD, and with executive function needs.

Excelling in math-based theory and analysis isn’t about memorizing formulas. Understanding the “why” makes memorization unnecessary. With an exceptional understanding of economics and statistics, I break concepts into simple steps that connect with a student’s understanding. This builds confidence and eliminates worries about forgetting formulas!

I graduated high school two years early as valedictorian. At Columbia and UC Berkeley, I was in the top of my class, including the top 5% of Berkeley economics majors. I’ve and the pleasure of working with Nobel Laureates. I am a published economist. Most recently I completed graduate economic coursework at Oxford University.

I look forward to meeting! Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

Guitar

Guitar

I began teaching guitar many (many) years ago when I was 14. I have volunteered as a music teacher across 4 continents working with students from beginner to advanced. I have played on multiple Grammy Award winning recordings, with artists ranging from Les Paul, Ke$ha, Bob Dylan, Halsey (and many other styles around the world ranging from Latin Jazz./Timba in Cuba and classical instrumentation ensembles in China) I have completed many arena-level world tours and still love playing in small intimate settings. Electric to acoustic, jazz to bluegrass, and even shredder electric techniques. Whatever you are looking to achieve I can get you there, with technique, theory, tone work, session player technique, and more, and make it fun in the process! My #1 rule is never practice! Because the whole point is fun. When you pick up your instrument it should be both fun and rewarding, while also making you a better player! Songwriters welcome as well! I can help you develop the mastery of chords, and melody to get that song in you heart out of your head and into the real world as a beautiful piece of personal art.

After college I continued to tutor all levels of math, resuming my focus on pre-algebra and algebra as I enjoy inspiring enthusiasm for math in fresh young minds.
Statistics

Statistics

I am a published economist having used advanced applied statistical techniques in my research. I am also proficient in theoretical statistical areas such as probability. I have a particular fondness for the introductory levels of statistics. That is where you come to see how to find truth and confidently draw conclusions about empirical relationships in the real world.

Just Amazing

Ramage has been tutoring my daughter for the past month to get her through her first Econ class as a Freshman in college. She always calls me after their sessions exclaiming "I get it, I get it"! I sometimes wonder why the actual professors don't elicit this response but that is a discussion for another day :) We are so thankful we found Ramage. My daughter and I can't recommend him enough. He is flexible, makes times work around a busy college freshman's schedule and is a confidence booster for my child. That is almost as important as the material itself! If you or someone you know needs any assistance within Ramage's offerings you will not be disappointed in hiring him! Katie Nyquist

A real expert

Very organized, easy to schedule with, and really knows his Economics! My son missed over a week of college microeconomics classes and needed help catching up. Ramage has an in depth understanding of the material and, more importantly, explains concepts clearly. My son performed well on his final exam, and we're very grateful. A fantastic tutor !

Amazing Tutor

Ramage does a fantastic job explaining things in a simple and effective manner. He’s tutored so long that he is very good at intuitively knowing what level of detail to cover and what not to cover. I will definitely use Ramage again!
