Native Speaker Brazilian Portuguese Tutor and Certified English Tutor

Dear Prospective Portuguese Students and Parents,

I am a native Brazilian from Rio de Janeiro. I have a degree in communications (journalism and public relations) from a Brazilian University and a law degree from an American Law School. My passion is teaching Portuguese and sharing my country's cultural bounty. I have tutored private students in Los Angeles since 2005. I have created and taught for two years a Portuguese and Bossa Nova class at the Westwood Public Library. Learning Portuguese through music was the objective of that class.

My tutoring sessions are usually one hour long, one on one, and involve reading, speaking, listening and experiencing the beautiful sounds of Portuguese! Of course, sessions can be tailored to your exact needs, level of skill and purpose. For example, I worked with several jazz recording artists who were recording songs in Portuguese, but did not speak the language, to improve their accent, pronunciation and cultural understanding of the lyrics. I have worked with advanced students who were giving business presentations in Brazil to correct, adjust or improve the quality of their presentations.

In summation, teaching Portuguese is what I do because I love it! Did I mention I am extremely patient, dedicated and genuinely interested in your progress?

In addition to Portuguese, I am a certified English Tutor, assisting students, especially foreign students, improve their reading, speaking and comprehension skills. Because I was once a foreign speaker, and have mastered the language over 25 years, I feel uniquely qualified to work with non-native speakers.
