Hi there! I'm Lizzy and I love working with students and problem solving! I have a broad-range of academic and professional experiences, which offer cross disciplinary perspectives and skillsets that you might not find in other private tutors. In addition to a diverse academic background, with two master's degrees from school at the top of their fields, I worked on Wall Street for four years as a marketing analyst for a fund of hedge funds. For nearly fifteen years I have been working with students from middle school through college, one-on-one or in classrooms, on topics ranging from Hebrew language to film history. In each of these instances I pride myself on adapting the material to the student's learning style and academic needs.

In May 2018, I earned an M.A. in Cinema and Media Studies from the University of Southern California, where I worked as a Teaching Assistant and course grader. As a TA, from fall 2016 to summer 2018, I was independently responsible for leading weekly discussion sections of roughly 25 undergraduate students. Much of my time was dedicated to editing and grading papers, designing interactive lesson plans, and accommodating various learning levels. In addition to offering classroom instruction and feedback on assignments, I made a point of working one-on-one with each student, so as to help them excel. As a result, my students's grades were on average three points higher than the general class average. Over the course of two years I graded and offered feedback on over 1,200 undergraduate students' assignments.

My mentorship and tutoring experience began at Bryn Mawr College, where I graduated with honors with a B.A. in Middle Eastern History. I have an undergraduate degree in Middle Eastern history where I took many classes on Islam as part of my degree requirement, with a summer research project on the 19th century Islamic sect, the Babis, and several classes on Medieval Christianity. I have also studied the Old Testament in Biblical Hebrew, and have about 12 years Jewish Studies academic experience (ranging from elementary to graduate level). My master's thesis was on the use of digital archiving at Holocaust museums and memorials. Further, I taught Baha'i studies classes for 3 years in NYC.
