For over 30 years, I have helped students overcome math frustration by identifying and rebuilding the foundational skills that are holding them back.

I specialize in grades 4–8 mathematics, pre-algebra, algebra readiness, and math intervention. My approach is different from traditional tutoring. Rather than simply helping students finish homework, I teach them how to understand concepts, think independently, and solve problems on their own.

As a credentialed teacher with nearly three decades of classroom experience, I have worked extensively with struggling learners, English language learners, students with ADHD, autism, learning differences, and students who have lost confidence in their math abilities. I meet students where they are, identify skill gaps, and create a clear plan to move them forward.

My experience includes teaching mathematics, English/ESL, science, and social studies from elementary through middle school. I currently teach mathematics for grades 4–8 at a private school in Los Angeles and hold advanced training in mathematics curriculum and instruction.

Common areas I help students improve include:

• Number sense and computation
• Fractions, decimals, and percents
• Word problems and mathematical reasoning
• Pre-algebra and algebra readiness
• Study skills and independent learning habits
• Confidence and test preparation

I also work with adults who need math remediation for college placement, career advancement, or personal goals.

My goal is simple: help students become capable, confident, and increasingly independent learners.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have taught and tutored Algebra 1 for over twenty years, working with students ranging from those encountering the subject for the first time to those who have struggled and need a complete foundation rebuild. My instruction emphasizes understanding the logic behind algebraic thinking — not just memorizing steps — so students can solve problems they have never seen before. I use structured diagnostics to pinpoint exactly where confusion begins and build from there with clear, deliberate instruction. My students consistently make measurable progress in confidence, accuracy, and independent problem solving.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I am a credentialed mathematics teacher with over two decades of classroom and tutoring experience specializing in foundational math for elementary students. I have worked extensively with students who have learning gaps, math anxiety, and executive functioning challenges, using structured diagnostic assessment to identify and close specific skill deficits. My approach emphasizes conceptual understanding over memorization, teaching students to think mathematically rather than depend on procedures. I have successfully supported students across all elementary grade levels, from number sense and basic operations through fractions, decimals, and algebraic readiness.
Finite Math

Finite Math

I have an extensive background in teaching elementary and middle school mathematics (for both public and private school). I have tutored or taught people from all ages and backgrounds. I have met all the necessary requirements, in both my graduate and undergraduate studies, including taking several classes in the course material covering what is commonly called finite mathematics. I currently hold a master's degree in mathematics education. I will help you not only cover all the material in any finite math course, but the necessary critical and analytical thinking skills necessary to be successful in any subject area. I am especially qualified to teach students with special needs. All of my supporting documents (degrees, course work as a graduate and undergraduate, credentials etc.) are available upon request.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I am a credentialed math teacher with over two decades of experience helping students master the critical bridge between arithmetic and algebra. I specialize in identifying and closing the foundational gaps that cause students to struggle in Pre-Algebra, including fractions, ratios, integers, and early equation solving. My diagnostic-first approach ensures every student gets targeted instruction rather than generic review. Students who work with me develop the conceptual understanding and procedural fluency needed to succeed in Algebra 1 and beyond.
