I have almost 10 years in tutoring experience (I'm older than I look!), and I specialize in helping students with reading comprehension and writing in a variety of different contexts, including (but not limited to): essays and class assignments, building writing self-efficacy, and test prep for standardized national exams like the SAT. A good portion of my experience also consists of working with students who are on IEPs and struggle with verbal functioning.
I do best with late elementary, middle, and high schoolers- but would be a great fit for anyone who can understand/appreciate sarcasm as well. Unfortunately, I have a little brother who I've been tutoring since he was born (he's 16 this year), so I know all the annoying Gen Alpha lingo and a little too much information on various online gaming platforms.
I believe and commit to making reading and writing fun, and I utilize social emotional learning, real-world connections, and humor heavily in my methodology.
