I was born in Oakland, CA, grew up in the suburbs of New York and lived most of my life in Northern California just north of San Francisco. My father was a renowned brain surgeon and inventor, my mother an accomplished pianist and flamenco guitarist. I attended Lawrenceville prep where I won Academic 1st Prizes in Geometry, Algebra, French and others. I was accepted at Harvard University, where I majored in Art History. I am a lifelong painter, with work in the collections of Fortune 500 companies and collectors internationally. I have travelled to Europe several times, most recently to the southwest of France (The Aquitaine) to visit an area once ruled by my ancestors. In the 1970's and 80's I participated and taught many events in the human potential movement, such as meditation and ecology. I worked as a graphic designer for 20 years, before the age of computers, and developed a seminar entitled "Basic Graphics" for small businesses.I was trained and volunteered as an ESL teacher during that time. In I was married in 1978 to my soulmate, Suzanne Gold, a therapist, singer and writer. She wrote and I edited an award winning novel, "Daddy's Girls." Suzanne and I wrote and published a popular self-help book in 1981, entitled "Being Yourself: 24 Ways to See the Light."

I love to teach and take a personal approach to each student based on their needs and desires, and my style is adaptable to several subjects. I have taught one thing or another for 50 years with precision and humor.
I love math, and often read mathematics and play with numbers for fun. (Do you know the secret of the number 6174?) I often bring up mathematical facts in conversation, though not everyone is interested, but my enthusiasm is undimmed. I won several academic pri
