Hi my name is Eksin K., you can call me Oak. I graduated from Burapha University in Thailand, with a bachelor's degree in English and a minor in tourism and management. After I graduated I started working at Lazada as a Thai-English translator. I worked there for two years before deciding to come to the US to further improve my English. I strive to improve my English through continual practice both in and outside of the classroom. I feel that being a language learner means that you never stop learning and there is always room for improvement. That’s why I decide to come to the US to be in an environment where you are required to use English in your daily life.
My journey as a language learner directly influences how I teach my students. I believe in moving students through and past materials such as textbooks. I want to create an immersive environment where students engage with a native speaker in order to improve fluency. When I was a student I had the chance to volunteer as an English teacher for a local middle school near my university. From that experience, I learned that to make a class effective is to make students enjoy what you are teaching. It’s not all about the level of difficulty in the materials you are teaching.
My goal is to help students understand a native speaker’s choice of words in both spoken and written language, improve listening skills, and communicate comfortably in the appropriate Thai depending on the social setting. I hope to create an enjoyable class for students and make them feel like they are in a fun and low-pressured environment.
Fun. Friendly. Focused.
