Having spent the past three years teaching mathematics full-time in a high school setting with a Clear California Teaching Credential, and with a background that includes a bachelor’s degree in theater and several years of teaching theater arts to diverse youth in the greater Los Angeles area, I am now eagerly seeking a position as a tutor where my unique skill set can be fully applied and further developed.
I have had much experience with students of all needs, backgrounds and abilities, and have been met with success in reaching the students and helping them to feel successful. My methods of teaching are forever adaptable in that it is my number one goal to reach the student and work with them in a way that empowers them and allows them to feel safe to learn. In my years of teaching, I have been praised as being a highly dedicated and diverse teacher that incorporates differentiated learning in my lessons on a daily basis.
In this current age, I strive to incorporate not only tangible manipulatives to help students better understand the concepts, but also modern technologies that are familiar to students of this generation in order to engage while promoting deeper understanding and relevance. Thoroughly enjoyed observing Caroline at work with my teenage daughter. Her approach is the form a true educator. She took time to ensure the goals of the task and explained in a way that my daughter could consume and then begin using to continue breaking down challenges. Caroline was so great. She Responded right away and went out of her way to find a time where she could help my daughter who was struggling to prepare for an Algebra test . My daughter was having a very hard time understanding the concept. She had gone into school to get extra help, had searched the internet, and her Dad had tried to help her. Only Caroline was able to explain it to her in a way where she was able to really understand. We highly recommend her. She was kind and patient and took the time to make sure she truly understood it.
You can find tutors on this site that appear to have more expertise in certain areas, but Caroline excels at explaining subject matter. It doesn't matter how well you know a subject if you can't explain it lucidly to someone else. This is where Caroline provides outstanding service. She is so good, that a principal of a private school approached her during one of my daughter's lessons to recruit her for her school. Out of the three tutors I tried, I can recommend Caroline without reservation as an outstanding and professional tutor.
Caroline L. is a fabulous tutor. She works well with my daughter, helps her understand the concepts, and taps into those inner strengths my daughter has but can't always find. I have really appreciated Caroline's flexibility and willingness to step in whenever we need her. I highly recommend her.
Caroline has been a huge help to my daughter so far. She was honest about being a little rusty with pre-calc at the beginning but it has not been a detriment. Caroline has taken the initiative to review my daughter's online text book before tutoring sessions and post videos to YouTube when she needed a extra time to research a problem and explain the solution. She is patient and easy to understand. An added bonus is that she lives close by and has a very flexible schedule. I highly recommend her!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
This last year, I taught 2 courses of Algebra 2 in a public high school in California. Not only am I highly familiar with the content and standards, but I also spent a good amount of time tutoring my students who needed extra support in the class. In the year of teaching this course, I have come to learn what the most common misconceptions are for students, and have developed strategies and activities to help maximize understanding and learning.
As I was completing my CA teaching credential, I spent a semester of my student teaching in Prealgebra at a middle school. During this time, I developed many methods for teaching this content, especially in the area of integers where many students struggle. I later went on to teach Algebra 1, and found that there were many of my students who needed extra time and review with their Prealgebra learning. It was then that I started offering lunch time tutoring for any and all students requiring extra help.
I have an A.A. in Mathematics, and almost completed a B.S. in Mathematics as well. I hold a clear California Teaching Credential, where I have been teaching professionally for the past 3 years. One of the requirements of the credential is to pass a rigorous test in subject matter competency.
I have obtained a bachelor's degree from California State University at Northridge in Theatre Arts. I have worked professionally in theater for over 10 years. I created a summer technical theater program in which I designed and instated new curriculum to a pre-existing program.
