Bio

I have always been passionate about learning and helping others grow in the process. During my undergraduate career at Azusa Pacific University, I completed more than 180 units (most students take 120-130) with a 4.0, majoring in English Literature and Spanish (with a minor in French). I have always been passionate about learning and helping others grow in the process. During my undergraduate career at Azusa Pacific University, I completed more than 180 units (most students take 120-130) with a 4.0, majoring in English Literature and Spanish (with a minor in French). I also have a certificate in Modern Hebrew from the University of Virginia that I received after completing their intensive Summer Language Institute. During my undergraduate career, I spent three years tutoring writing for both undergraduate and graduate students; worked as a high school tutor in Spanish, English, History, and SAT; taught English and Spanish to young adults in Thailand; and worked as a teaching and research assistant for Dr. Carole Lambert, a well-respected professor of literary theory and specialist in Holocaust literature. I am now attending the University of Southern California (USC) for my PhD in Comparative Literature, and I hold a teaching assistant position in the Religion Department.

Teaching is one of my greatest passions and joys. There is nothing more satisfying than helping other people succeed both in and out of the classroom. After all, one of the reasons why I love teaching languages is because there is an immediate reward. It is such an amazing feeling to apply what you have learned right away! My goal in tutoring is to promote these optimistic approaches to learning so that it becomes a journey rather than a chore. I often try to find creative ways of applying material right away, so that tutoring sessions have a good balance between mastery of concepts and actual communication practice. I firmly believe that anyone can speak a foreign language, read/write with confidence (even in English!), and master ANY subject - let me help you believe that, too!

Besides actually knowing Spanish, French, and Hebrew, I also have the advantage of having studied each of those languages extensively from the ground up (I have also taken courses in Thai and Yiddish, so I know the system very, very well). That i

Essay Writing

I was a lead writing consultant at the Azusa Pacific University Writing Center, where I helped students from undergaduate to PhD programs. Since graduating with an MA in Literature, I have been an English teacher, administrator, and writing tutor. I was an AP English teacher with a nearly 90% pass rate, and I am still an AP exam scorer for the AP Seminar exam.
French

French

I earned a French minor at Azusa Pacific University, and I completed a number of graduate-level courses in French at the University of Southern California, passing my French qualifying exam there with honors. I also currently teach French at the high school level.
Hebrew

Hebrew

I have a certificate in Modern Hebrew from the University of Virginia's Summer Language Institute. This involved nearly 12 hours of class per day, 5 days a week for 12 weeks (the equivalent of 12 semester unit hours). I have also audited Hebrew IV: Advanced Modern Hebrew at the Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles.
Spanish

Spanish

I have a bachelor's degree (summa cum laude - 4.0) in Spanish, and I was recently awarded a top national award by the Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. At USC, I continue to take graduate-level courses in Spanish. On the other side of the classroom, I have taught/tutored Spanish to a wide range of high school students and young adults for the past 4+ years.
