Hello! My name is Justin, and I'm excited to start tutoring you!

I am a graduate of Harvard University (Master's in Hebrew Bible), the University of St Andrews (Master's in Classics), and Boyce College (Bachelor's in the Humanities) currently pursuing another (!) master's degree in classics at the University of Notre Dame. I taught Latin for several years at Veritas Classical Academy in California, and more recently served as an instructor of Greek at Sattler College in Boston. My expertise is in the Ancient Greek language (though I also work with Latin and Hebrew texts), literature, and history. I am also a student of the Bible, and can read both the Old and New Testaments in their original languages.

I am looking forward to helping you master the humanities through our sessions! See you soon!

Bible Studies

Bible Studies

I am a summa cum laude graduate of one of the largest evangelical seminaries in the world, and I currently teach Bible as a career at Veritas Classical Academy. I have been a Christian since I was 18 years old and have spent much of my life since then devoting myself to rigorous study of the Bible: its contents, teaching, theology, context, and interpretation. In addition to having read the entire Bible in English, I am able to read the New Testament in the original Greek with ease, and I can read portions of the Old Testament in the original Hebrew. It is my joy to be able to help others learn about Scripture, too.
Classics

Classics

I hold an MLitt. in Classics from the University of St Andrews (Scotland), and I am currently pursuing an MA in Classics from the University of Notre Dame. In addition, I hold a master's degree in Hebrew Bible from Harvard University, where I also studied in the Department of Classics. I have several years of Greek and Latin teaching experience, and have also taught courses on the history and literature of the ancient world.
Greek

Greek

I have studied ancient Greek for more than a decade, and have taught both intermediate and advanced courses at the collegiate level. My research has focused on the ways later Greek authors imitated older ones, so I have worked with both very old (Homer, lyric poets) and much later (New Testament and early Christian) Greek, and a lot in between. I've studied and taught both poetry and prose, though the vast majority of my work has been in the latter.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I teach High School Rhetoric at a Classical Academy in Fullerton, CA. I have preached sermons, delivered speeches, and have both personally overcome and helped others to overcome fear of public speaking. Speaking in front of students is my job, and convincing them of the need to pay attention has helped me to hone my speaking skills.
Religion

Religion

I hold an undergraduate degree from one of the largest seminaries in the world, and I have studied Christian theology for six years. In addition, I have studied (to varying degrees) Islam, Judaism, Mormonism, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, and ancient Greek, Latin, and Near Eastern religions. I am a Protestant Christian by conviction, but I desire to accurately and fairly understand and represent faiths other than my own, while not simplifying or minimizing the differences between them.
