Hi, I am Samantha! I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Biola University with a degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Elementary Education. I attended California State University-Stanislaus to complete my credential work and to get certification in English Learner Education. While in school I discovered a love for working with students and seeing them achieve success in learning. To see the “light bulb” moment was such a great experience.

After over 30 years in education, I am now retired. I have worked in public and private schools, as well as been a one on one homeschool teacher/adviser. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. I also worked in a charter school with junior high and high school students doing credit recovery. I have worked in all subjects, but especially enjoy teaching math, reading, and writing. I feel these subjects are so important to all other learning.

I believe one on one or small groups are the best ways for students to learn, as it provides the teacher a way to dial in on what needs to be addressed. I enjoy getting to know students and what they are interested in as it helps to inform their learning. Students who are interested in what they are learning will retain more information. I believe in the “watch me, work with me side by side, and then independent work” method of learning. I believe teacher demonstration followed by working together gives a student confidence to attack the subject matter independently. I also believe having a student be able to explain their learning is crucial to their understanding of any subject. In this way, I always have a lively discussion of student learning and outcomes to help them make sense of what they are doing. I would love to work with you on any areas you need assistance.
