Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening. My name is Shaden, but my students know me as Mrs. H. My educational background includes an associate degree in Early Childhood Development, a Bachelor's in Elementary Education (K-8), and a Master's in Business Management and Communication. I am a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and bring the skills I acquired from this membership to the table when tutoring. I encourage a growth mindset and provide the strategies, resources, and environment for success. I try to instill a sense of confidence in my student's ability to understand and progress. I am a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and an aspiring novelist. I find language to be both a tool to utilize and a hobby to enjoy. My teaching style is eclectic, adjusted according to the subject, and more importantly tailored to the learning style of the student. I follow Common Core State Standards but I do not teach to the book. I don't believe in drill work. My goal is to scaffold my student's learning until they reach competency. My favorite part of teaching is watching a child's eyes alight when they have an AHA moment.

I have nearly a decade of tutoring experience. I have also been the Learning Coach for three of my children while in a Homeschool program. Although I thrive in the Language Arts sector, I am also a proverbial educator in Math, Science, and Social Studies/History. I have taught at all age levels from two-year-olds to thirty-five-year-olds. I am an affluent tutor for students with learning struggles as well as students who are trying to advance their studies. I have worked in one-on-one settings as well as group sessions with success.

My goal is to ensure that your children enjoy learning and thrive in the educational environment with the least amount of stress and anxiety. If you feel as though I would be a good match for your student, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or to schedule a session.

African American Studies

As a BIPOC woman, I value the importance of exploring the history of my culture. I have taken African American Studies courses consistently since I was in the seventh grade. One of my college papers was published in the school newsletter for the Black History Month edition. I practice and promote cultural humility so I actively expand my knowledge of African American studies from different perspectives and sources.
Common Core

Common Core

I earned my degree in California, which adopted the Common Core State Standards in August 2010. Part of my degree program was to create lesson plans for K-8 subjects that address two to three common core standards. Additionally, I have worked as a Learning Coach for a program that follows common core standards for three years and as a K-6 tutor for five consecutive years.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I received a Bachelors Degree from Western Governors University in Elementary Education. Immediately following this, I became the Learning Coach for my children while they were enrolled in a homeschool program. I have also been an active private tutor for elementary students for the last several years.

United States History

During my studies to earn my education degree, I took several History courses. Part of those studies involved utilizing both primary and secondary sources with proper citations. I received an award and a certificate of excellence for my work in U.S. History and World History.

I have taken an independent course in Cultural Anthropology. I have been awarded Certificates of Excellence in World History as well as U.S. History from Western Governors University.
