My first two years of I teaching were at an international school in Tegucigalpa, Honduras teaching my own class of fifth graders. This was a fantastic start to my teaching career as I learned how to apply my lesson planning skills and adapt and adjust them for specific students' needs while also starting to develop my classroom management skills.
Having spent three consecutive years living in Central America, I returned to the United States and taught first grade and later kindergarten in a Spanish immersion program in San Francisco. By then I'd added the bilingual authorization to my teaching credential ("BCLAD certified"), so I spent two years teaching in Spanish and two years teaching in English.
My husband and I moved to Tahoe eight years ago and I've been teaching second grade in Spanish ever since.
