I am an incoming UC Berkeley student planning to study Data Science, with a strong academic background in both math and English. I have taken 11 AP courses and maintained a 4.6 weighted GPA (3.95 unweighted). I earned a 5 on AP Calculus BC and AP Physics, as well as a 760 on the SAT English section and a 5 on AP Language and Composition. I have also completed college-level calculus coursework, which has given me a deeper understanding of advanced mathematical concepts beyond the high school level.
In addition to my academic background, I have hands-on tutoring experience through my school’s tutorial club, where I worked one-on-one with peers on a daily basis. I primarily helped high school students across various grade levels with math and writing, focusing on breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps. This consistent, individualized setting allowed me to adapt to different learning styles and build strong communication skills while helping students improve both their understanding and performance.
My teaching approach is centered on clarity and confidence. Rather than relying on memorization, I emphasize helping students understand the “why” behind concepts so they can apply their knowledge independently. Whether I’m helping with math problem-solving or improving writing structure and analysis, I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing long-term skills.
