Taking the SAT and/or ACT can be an intense and stressful endeavor for any student, as well as their parents. As a survivor of these sometimes grueling tests, I used my personal experience with taking both tests (as well as a handful of AP and SAT II exams) to tutor students for the past 11 years. As a tutor, I have dozens of hours of experience tutoring high school students, not only for SAT and ACT test preparation but also general homework help as well as finals week studying. But my tutoring experience is not limited to high school, as I also have experience with teaching middle school subjects such as algebra and social studies, as well as general help for all other subjects of that level. Additionally, I have tutored some college level mathematics, computer science, and physics-related courses.
My first lesson will usually focus on identifying what aspects of the subject my students most need help on, after which I can develop a thorough outline for what our next steps will need to be. I aim to not only help my students by "holding their hands" but instead increase their critical thinking and reasoning skills so they can apply them in any subject. In order to accomplish this, I will not only lecture on the topic but also demonstrate the problem solving steps and supervise practice problems to ensure students understand what they are seeing, rather than just memorizing a formula. In addition to generalized tutoring, I am able to assist with homework, studying, or essay help, and will apply these same principles when doing these as well.
My educational background is focused on STEM fields, with a Bachelor's Degree double majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science and a Master's Degree in Computer Science. I am familiar with tutoring a variety of subjects, K-12 Math, English, Science, History, Econ, etc. as well as the aforementioned College-level courses . I can also assist in some advanced subjects such as Graduate-level Machine Learning or Cybersecurity.
