Chemistry is challenging because it includes so many concepts integrated with math and unfamiliar vocabulary. Students can often feel overwhelmed, not knowing what to focus on. Through my years of teaching, I have worked one-on-one with many students to get them through the parts of chemistry that were holding them back. My approach is to identify where the problem(s) are -- whether it is with the math, the vocabulary, or the conceptual material. I have pre-made problem sets to provide key practice, and I can make up appropriate problems on the spot to identify and help students overcome challenges. I am very patient and adaptable when working one-on-one with students. I can explain concepts in very simple terms that are easy to grasp for high schoolers, and I can explain more difficult and challenging material for college students studying organic chemistry.
