Hi, I’m Wendy. I have over 18 years of experience tutoring students in math, and I also have 30+ years of classroom experience as a teacher and substitute teacher. My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in biology, with an emphasis in chemistry, and I have continued strengthening my own math skills through advanced coursework. I tutor a wide range of math subjects, including elementary math, middle school math, Prealgebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Calculus, and AP Calculus.
I have worked with elementary, middle school, high school, and college students in both one-on-one tutoring and classroom settings. With younger students, I specialize in filling skill gaps and helping them build confidence with foundational skills such as multiplication facts, long division, fractions, decimals, percents, and problem-solving. With older students, I help them understand algebraic thinking, functions, graphing, trigonometry, calculus concepts, and statistics. I am especially good at identifying where a student is getting stuck and breaking the material into clear, manageable steps.
My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and practical. Many students come to me feeling frustrated or convinced they are “not math people,” so I focus on creating a calm environment where they can ask questions and learn from mistakes. I explain not just what steps to follow, but why those steps work, so students can build lasting understanding and perform better on homework, quizzes, tests, finals, and AP exams.
