Hello, I'm Julio! I graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics for Teaching. I am a current substitute teacher at Palm Springs Unified School District. I have had 4 years of on-and-off tutoring and a year of teaching. I decided to become a tutor/teacher because I know how important it is to struggle with math and overcome the challenge. The fact is that it is okay to get a math problem wrong. The idea is to push past it and realize that there is more than one way to solve a math problem. Therefore, I encourage all types of learning and help students' confidence with solving math problems. I teach in the best shape or form that a student is capable of learning through. Whether it be visually, auditory, symbolically, logically, or verbally, I will persistently and patiently open a student's eyes to the beauty of mathematics. Additionally, I bring all forms of learning along with me in my tutoring sessions. For example, I work closely with a white board and markers that I bring to tutoring sessions along with any objects that will help any student's visual perception.
I have a year tutoring Geometry with high school students. A colleague and I created our own Probability math lesson from scratch and taught the lesson twice to several High School math classes last year. I have created my very own Algebra 1 math lessons and taught it to several Middle School classes over the Summer last year. Additionally, I have passed all three CSET Math SIngle Subject Subtests.
Any other resources or suggestions students or parents may want to provide is always welcome. I am easy to reach and available for any questions or comments. Feel free to contact me to schedule a tutoring lesson!
