I began tutoring during my undergraduate years. Primarily elementary and middle school students, but also whilst working for the university paper, I was able to help edit and tutor our prospective writers. Each year I continued tutoring English, Writing, and History to elementary and middle school students. My tutoring approach primarily centres on the student's own concerns and/or areas they'd like to improve upon, such as problems with plot structure or overusing summary. I also always seek to provide examples of other works and readings to help establish a connection and practice with the intended genre or style they'd like to pursue.
Currently, I am a continuing student who has been tutoring for over five years now. I have an undergraduate degree in both English and History with honours. I have been a part of several writing seminars and have studied both fiction, nonfiction, memoir, fantasy, romance, and journalism writing. I have also achieved an MPhil (essentially a Masters Degree) at Trinity College Dublin, where I received a first with distinction. All the while, I go through writing classes at the UCLA Extension School to keep up both the practice and learning of the craft.
