I feel the best indicator of truly mastering a subject is by the ability to teach it. I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and am also a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Power Systems. In my 15 years as an Engineer I have worked in various Engineering fields including aerospace, industrial safety, hydro-electric pumping plants, and media systems. Throughout my education and professional career, I have relied heavily on mathematics, problem-solving, and analytical thinking. Math and science has always been an important part of both my academic and professional life. I enjoy helping others understand concepts that may seem difficult at first and showing them that math can be much more approachable than they think.
My approach to tutoring is centered around patience, encouragement, and building confidence. Over the years, I have spent many hours helping my own son with understanding math, and I have seen firsthand how frustrating it can be when a student feels stuck or falls behind on a key concept. The last 2 years I've also enjoyed teaching young children important skills through Cub Scouts as an Assistant Cubmaster and have found that students are often capable of much more than they realize when adapting to the individuals learning style. Those experiences taught me the importance of meeting students where they are, explaining concepts in a clear and relatable way, and creating an environment where questions are always welcome. I believe students learn best when they understand the reasoning behind a solution rather than simply memorizing steps or formulas.
My goal is to help you strengthen your understanding and become a more confident problem solver. I focus on taking larger complex topics that seem overwhelming and breaking it into smaller, manageable steps and helping students develop skills they can use long after a homework assignment or test is finished. Every student learns differently, and I will work with you at your pace to build both understanding and confidence.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra can be challenging because each new topic builds on the ones that came before it. As an Electrical Engineer with a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, I've used algebra throughout my education and career, and I know how important it is to have a strong foundation. My approach is to break problems down into simple, understandable steps and help students see the logic behind the process instead of just memorizing rules. I enjoy helping students work through the frustration that often comes with math and building the confidence they need to succeed both in their current class and future math courses.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

Pre-algebra is all about building the foundation for everything that comes later in math, and I’ve used these same concepts throughout my education and career as an Electrical Engineer with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Even in engineering work, a lot of problem-solving comes down to understanding the basics really well—fractions, decimals, ratios, and working step-by-step through problems without getting overwhelmed. When I tutor pre-algebra, I focus on slowing things down and helping students feel comfortable with the fundamentals. A lot of students struggle here because they’ve missed something small along the way, so I try to find those gaps and rebuild confidence one step at a time. My goal is to make math feel less stressful and more manageable so students can move forward with a solid foundation.
