As a PhD Candidate and former English instructor at Harvard and Northeastern Universities, I have extensive experience ensuring student success and teaching online in a way tailored to individual student needs. My work as a tutor began after I received my BA with highest honors and distinction in the English major from UC Santa Barbara six years ago. Since then, I have built my skills teaching writing and literature courses at the university level as I continued tutoring high school and middle school students. In all of my teaching, both in the college classroom and one on one, I aspire to help students become better readers and writers and, ultimately, responsible and ethical citizens. I have a proven track record of success attaining these goals. I am proud to say that my students have been admitted to universities like UC Berkeley and the Gallatin school at NYU using essays we developed; I am just as proud to say that I have helped graduate students defend dissertations on topics like augmented reality design and urban data visualization.

My awards, presentations, and scores are a testament to my abilities. Most recently, I won the Graduate Essay Prize from the Northeastern English Department and was accepted for publication in the interdisciplinary journal ImageText. At UCSB, I graduated with Highest Honors, the Dean of Undergraduate Education Award, English Honors, Distinction in the Major, the Academic Excellence Award, Letters and Sciences Honors 2012-2016, Dean's Honors 2012-2016, and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Before college, I attained a 2260 SAT score, with a perfect 800 on writing. I gained an understanding of how the SAT (and ACT) is not a measurement of intelligence as much as it is a unique "game," though not a fun one, with its own rules, tricks, and tips. Upon pursuing my graduate education, I scored a 168 on the Verbal Reasoning portion of the GRE and a 5.5 on the Analytical Writing portion, putting me in the 98th percentile.

I scored an 800 on the SAT Writing, the highest score one can receive. Since then, as a distinguished graduate in the English major, I have only improved my writing skills. My academic and creative writing has been exceptionally received by my peers and former professors, and shall hopefully continue to be lauded as I enter graduate school for English next year.
