I hold both undergraduate and graduate degrees in engineering, culminating in a PhD, and my academic path has always been deeply rooted in mathematics. Throughout my studies I served as a class representative and took on mentoring roles, which naturally evolved into a long-term commitment to tutoring and teaching.
I began tutoring in high school, working one-on-one with middle-school students who needed extra support in math. Many families continued with me for years, returning for help as their children advanced into more challenging material. Over time, I expanded to tutoring high-school students as well, including Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Statistics.
During graduate school, I taught undergraduate engineering and math-related courses as a Graduate Student Instructor. In that setting, I worked with large groups and smaller discussion sections, giving me experience adapting lessons for different learning styles and levels of background preparation. I also provided individual support during office hours, which felt very similar to one-on-one tutoring.
My approach is patient, structured, and focused on building understanding rather than rote memorization. I aim to meet each student where they are, break down concepts into intuitive steps, and build confidence through guided practice and clear explanations. Whether the goal is catching up, getting ahead, or preparing for exams, I tailor sessions to the student’s needs and pace.
I’ve now been tutoring for more than a decade, with experience ranging from middle-school math fundamentals to high-school coursework and introductory college statistics. I enjoy helping students develop both competence and confidence - and empowering them to reach their academic goals.
