I was a data science lecturer at the University of the Pacific, where I taught graduate-level students beginning in August 2023. I now offer tutoring in SQL, statistics, machine learning, data science, and Mandarin Chinese. I have taught three cohorts of 32, 67, and 30 students through in-person, online, and asynchronous formats.
For technical subjects, I use real-world datasets and hands-on exercises to make complex concepts practical and approachable. Lessons can cover statistical analysis, machine learning fundamentals, SQL, PostgreSQL, Docker, VS Code, and data science workflows. I provide patient, step-by-step guidance and help students build a strong foundation before moving on to more advanced topics. My Mandarin lessons are also tailored to each student’s goals, including conversation, pronunciation, reading, writing, and everyday communication.
My teaching philosophy is to create an engaging and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. I combine clear explanations, patience, and humor to make challenging material more accessible. Students have described my courses as well-structured and appreciated the variety of practical assignments. One student said the final project presentation “felt like an achievement,” while another described me as “very friendly and focused while teaching.”
