ADHD

ADHD

As a graduate of Tufts University and a teacher or tutor for many years, I have gained a wealth of experience in working with teenagers who have ADD or other learning challenges. Currently, I am working on my special education teaching credential and Masters degree. My methods involve testing the student to discover what type of learning method is best. Most ADD/ADHD students are kinesthetic learners in my experience, which means they require movement and real life examples to grasp the material with full understanding. I teach the fundamentals of each subject with application in real life. I also teach how to study/coping skills in school for ADD/ADHD students. I also teach vocabulary /key words of each subject using the study style that best applies for the student. This gives the student a real advantage. When needed, I provide remedial or "catch up" tutoring for the ADD student including English and mathematics. At this time I am accepting only 3 students at a time, please contact me right away.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Currently a graduate student in special education, I have completed courses and practicum on teaching students with mild-moderate autism spectrum disorder (ASD). As needed, I can provide recommendations from my professors and master teachers who comment that I have a particularly excellent rapport with exceptional students. My methods include individually tailored lesson plans aligned with the Common Core standards that are given after assessing student's needs and learning style.
Dyslexia

Dyslexia

Hello, it is a pleasure to meet you. I am a student at Northridge University working on my special education credential and master's degree. My area of focus is mild/moderate disabilities K-age 22. I have an excellent rapport with students who have learning disabilities including dyslexia. My students receive individually prepared lessons to help them access the Common Core Curriculum for any subject taught in school. I have completed courses and practicum in teaching students with dyslexia and have tutored and worked with children diagnosed with dyslexia. I am skilled at visually and kinesthetically teaching information with prepared lesson plans and using technology as a teaching tool, though my teaching style is based on student's individual needs.

Also, I have completed over 1,000 hours of one-on-one tutoring in mathematics, English language, grammar and science. One of the greatest tutors my family came across!!!!

Ms. Tara is a wonderful tutor she's patient smart intelligent and knows how to get your child's attention. Miss Tara is tutoring my son for math and science. Ms. Tara brings joy to learning. Usually my son does not like doing homework but when its presented by Ms. Tara he gets very excited and feel so good about himself getting the right answer. I would definitely recommend Miss Terra is your child's next to her because she is experienced and has a way of getting a child to be so interested in whatever they were having problems with before definitely a five star thank you we appreciate your hard work Ms. Tara.

Very helpful tutor

Ms. Tara was especially helpful to me as a new teacher. She helped me to go forward in the design of a five-lesson plan sequence. I was able to take advantage of her teaching experience, and she was modeling the process for me, even as I will be modeling for my students. She sent me a recap of what we studied together which useful so I could pay attention without having to write notes. I would recommend Ms. Tara to anyone who is trying to learn the craft of teaching.
