Hi, I'm Brad — a Harvard-trained linguist and academic writing coach who's spent the past 15 years helping undergrad and grad students and other researchers get their work across the finish line.
If you’re struggling with academic writing, feeling stuck on a thesis or dissertation, or just want to take your writing to the next level, that's exactly where I come in. My approach moves between the big picture (your argument, your engagement with sources, your overall structure) and the fine details (precision, mechanics, scholarly conventions), centering on whatever you need most in the moment.
My own academic path has been a bit of an adventure. It started with a deep love of ancient languages and the Hebrew Bible, which took me from an undergrad degree in Biblical Studies (magna cum laude) at Azusa Pacific, through a Master of Theological Studies at Harvard Divinity School and an M.A. in Linguistics at Cal State Fullerton, to doctoral work in Semitic Philology back at Harvard — where I passed my comprehensive exams with distinction. I've published in top-tier journals, taught ancient languages at the graduate level, and I'm currently finishing a PhD in Hebrew at the University of the Free State.
All of that eventually led me to coaching, which honestly turned out to be my calling. Over those 15 years, I've worked one-on-one with more than 150 clients, including graduate students, professional academics, and independent researchers. This work has also included tutoring in my areas of academic specialization: Biblical Hebrew, Classical Greek, Akkadian, Syriac, and Ugaritic, along with biblical studies, theology, and ancient Near Eastern history.
Whether you're wrestling with a dissertation chapter or trying to get a handle on a tricky ancient language, I bring the same rigor my own training demanded, along with the kind of support I wished I'd had along the way.
