Bio

How's it going?

My name is Justin and I have been a history teacher for over 15 years, and I absolutely love it. I knew from the time that I was in elementary school that I was going to do something with history as a career....and I have. I received my BA in History from UC Santa Barbara. Then I continued my education at Pepperdine where I received my MA in Education, and I have been teaching ever since.

I have taught nearly every course available in a high school's history curriculum...

My name is Justin and I have been a history teacher for over 15 years, and I absolutely love it. I knew from the time that I was in elementary school that I was going to do something with history as a career....and I have. I received my BA in History from UC Santa Barbara. Then I continued my education at Pepperdine where I received my MA in Education, and I have been teaching ever since.

I have taught nearly every course available in a high school's history curriculum (including various levels of Advanced Placement, Honors, and "college prep"). As I am both a teacher and a tutor, I have, and use, the textbooks and materials from my classes in my sessions. I am also a grader on the US History AP Exam. Like my teaching, I like to vary my tutoring styles so that my students can learn the information in a way that will help them retain the information and succeed in their classes.

American History

I have been teaching American History for years, as it is one of two classes that I have taught exclusively in all of my years in the classroom (the other being Government/Economics). I also teach AP U.S. History and had my school's highest pass rate this past year. I help my students--both in class and in a tutoring session--succeed on the exam. I am also an AP Exam rater, so I know what students need to do to be successful on their exams, as I grade exams.

I have been teaching Government--and have taught AP Government--for many years, as it is one of two classes that I have taught exclusively in all of my years in the classroom (the other being U.S. History). I have the experience needed to help students succeed in both levels of this class. I'd like to think that I am an expert in this subject and am willing to help students succeed in this class.
Microeconomics

Microeconomics

I have been teaching Microeconomics for several years, as it is one of the few classes that I have taught exclusively in all of my years in the classroom. I have the experience needed to help students succeed in this class. I have taught both honors and college prep levels of this course.
Social Studies

Social Studies

I have been teaching social studies, at all levels and classes -- grades 6-12 -- for nearly 10 years. Prior to that, I was a History major in college. I have tutored students and teachers to help prepare for AP exams and for the exam that teachers take in order to be credentialed to teach their subject.

Excellent Tutor

Justin helped prepare my son for his AP US History Midterm. Since Justin is a teacher he easily adjusted to my son's learning style and was able to focus on topics my son was not clear on. We will definitely use his services in the future and do highly recommend.
