I’m Larry! I graduated with a degree in Physics from Harvard where I also loved studying a wide range of subjects from Film and Animation, to Math and Computer Graphics. In middle school and high school I worked as a tutor, teaching fellow students one-on-one in Algebra, Geometry, Pre-calculus, and Science. After college I went back to graduate school at USC, where I also worked as a teaching assistant for Undergraduate Freshmen in Physics, Physics lab, and Remedial Math classes (Algebra, Functions and Relations, Trigonometry, and more). I taught at USC in both the class setting, as well as one-on-one during office hours. One of my favorite moments occurred when I learned from an excellent freshman Math student of mine, who had returned to college at an older age, that he had decided to become a physician’s assistant. I felt great pride watching the rapid progress he was making in the section I was teaching.
One thing I love to do with students is help them build up their intuitive understanding of the subject by giving relatable visual or historical examples of how the math applies, whether it’s the equation of a parabola to predict where a football will land, to the 800-year old unwrapping of a circle into a triangle to calculate its area.
I want to make sure I’m as prepared as possible to help the students I’m tutoring, and to that end encourage them to share any resources or suggestions they or their parents may have. I’m easy to reach and always answer quickly. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have, or to set up a lesson!
