Learning Doesn’t Have to Be Frustrating. I’m Here to Help!

With over 20 years of teaching experience, I’ve helped students of different backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles understand challenging subjects, build confidence, and reach their goals. Whether you’re struggling in class, preparing for an exam, or need someone to explain things in a way that finally makes sense, I’m here to help.

I believe every student can learn with the right support and encouragement. One of my favorite moments as a teacher is seeing a student’s face light up when something they’ve struggled with suddenly clicks. That’s why I love teaching!

Since 2002, I’ve taught biology, anatomy, physiology, and other sciences at the high school and college levels. I also enjoy helping younger students build strong foundations in science and math. I’ve worked with students who needed extra help, lacked confidence, or learned differently from the way material was presented in class.

My approach is patient, encouraging, and tailored to you. I break complicated topics into manageable steps, use everyday examples, and welcome questions. There’s no such thing as a silly question! If one explanation doesn’t work, we’ll try another until we find one that does.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a PhD in neuroscience, and completed postdoctoral training at UC Davis. But what matters most to me isn’t my academic background. It’s helping you feel comfortable asking questions, understand what you’re learning, and gain the confidence to tackle problems independently.

Whether you’re a parent seeking help for your child, a high school student struggling with science or math, or a college student tackling biology or anatomy, I’d love to help. My goal isn’t just to help you get through your next assignment or exam. It’s to help you discover that you’re capable of more than you might think.

Let’s make learning easier and a lot less stressful!

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

With over 20 years of teaching experience, I enjoy helping students understand math concepts that once seemed confusing or overwhelming. I help students prepare for ACT Math by breaking down problems into manageable steps, reviewing important concepts, and teaching practical test-taking strategies. My approach is patient, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning style. My goal is to help students build confidence, strengthen their math skills, and approach the ACT feeling prepared and capable of success.
ACT Science

ACT Science

Science doesn’t have to be intimidating! I’m an experienced science educator who enjoys helping students turn confusing questions into manageable problems. ACT Science is less about memorizing facts and more about understanding graphs, interpreting experiments, and recognizing patterns. I take a patient, step-by-step approach, adapting explanations to each student’s needs and helping them develop practical strategies for working accurately and efficiently. I also hold a PhD in Neuroscience, but what I enjoy most is helping students gain confidence and discover that they’re more capable than they think.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra can be frustrating, especially when a student falls behind or starts to believe they’re just not good at math. As an experienced teacher, I focus on breaking problems into simple, manageable steps, explaining concepts in different ways, and helping students understand why a method works instead of just memorizing formulas. Whether you’re struggling with equations, fractions, word problems, or preparing for a test, we’ll work at a pace that’s comfortable for you and build on what you already know. My goal is to make algebra less intimidating, help students experience those wonderful “I get it now!” moments, and give them the confidence to succeed on their own.
Anatomy

Anatomy

Anatomy can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to learn hundreds of unfamiliar terms, identify structures, and remember how everything fits together. Having taught college-level Anatomy and Physiology, I understand where students commonly struggle and how to break complicated material into smaller, more manageable pieces. I use clear explanations, relatable examples, and connections between structures and their functions to help students understand what they’re learning rather than simply memorizing endless lists. Whether you’re preparing for a career in nursing or another healthcare field, struggling to keep up with lectures, or studying for a challenging exam, I’ll meet you where you are and help you build the understanding and confidence you need to succeed.
Biology

Biology

Biology is fascinating, but it can also feel overwhelming when you’re faced with unfamiliar terminology, complicated processes, and so much information to remember. As an experienced college Biology instructor, I enjoy breaking difficult concepts into smaller, understandable pieces, using everyday examples, and helping students see how everything fits together. Whether you’re struggling with cells, genetics, photosynthesis, evolution, or preparing for an upcoming exam, I’ll work with you at your own pace and explain things in different ways until they make sense. My goal is to help high school and college students move beyond memorizing facts, develop a genuine understanding of biology, and gain the confidence to succeed in class.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Neuroscience, giving me a strong foundation in chemistry, biochemistry, and the biological sciences. I have extensive experience teaching college-level science courses, including anatomy and physiology. I specialize in breaking down complex scientific concepts into clear, understandable steps and adapting my teaching to each student’s learning style. Whether you’re learning chemistry for the first time or working through challenging material, my goal is to help you build understanding, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have taught and tutored basic math for decades in person and do so online as well.
Elementary Science

Elementary Science

Science can be exciting, but it can also feel confusing when students don’t understand what’s being taught in class. I’ve spent years teaching science and helping students understand difficult ideas by breaking them into smaller, manageable steps. I use everyday examples, clear explanations, and plenty of encouragement to help students learn at their own pace. My goal is to help your child feel comfortable asking questions, build confidence, and discover that science really can make sense!
European History

European History

I am an experienced educator with a PhD and a strong background in teaching, critical thinking, and helping students understand complex material. I help students explore European history through the major events, political movements, cultural changes, and influential figures that shaped the modern world. My approach emphasizes understanding cause and effect, making connections between historical events, and developing strong analytical skills. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s needs, making history engaging, understandable, and less intimidating.
GED

GED

I believe it’s never too late to learn, and everyone deserves a teacher who is patient, encouraging, and willing to explain things in a way that makes sense. I help students prepare for the GED by breaking down challenging concepts, strengthening foundational skills, and building confidence in math, science, social studies, and language arts. As an experienced educator with a background in science and a PhD in Neuroscience, I understand that everyone learns differently and adapt my lessons to each student’s needs. My goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free learning environment where students feel supported, celebrate their progress, and gain the skills and confidence to succeed on the GED.
NCLEX

NCLEX

Preparing for the NCLEX can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to tackle it alone! I have years of experience teaching anatomy and physiology to pre-nursing students, along with a background in healthcare, neuroscience, and patient safety. I specialize in breaking down complicated medical concepts into clear, manageable lessons. Together, we’ll strengthen your understanding of medications, disease processes, patient assessment, and clinical reasoning while practicing NCLEX-style questions. My goal is to help you understand not just which answer is correct, but WHY, so you can approach your exam with greater confidence.
Physiology

Physiology

Physiology can feel overwhelming when there are so many processes, pathways, and body systems to understand. If you’re struggling to keep everything straight, you’re definitely not alone! I’ve spent years teaching college students, and one of my favorite parts of teaching is helping someone go from feeling completely confused to saying, “Now I get it!” I’m patient, I explain things in everyday language, and I’m happy to approach a topic in different ways until it clicks. Whether you’re taking anatomy and physiology for nursing school, another healthcare program, or a general college course, we’ll work together to make the material easier to understand and help you feel more confident.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have years of experience teaching students with different learning styles and helping them understand concepts that initially seem confusing. I break prealgebra into manageable steps, using clear explanations and plenty of practice to help students master fractions, decimals, negative numbers, equations, and word problems. My approach is patient, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s needs, so they feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. My goal is to help students feel more confident in math and develop the skills they need to succeed in Algebra 1.
