Bio

I am a PhD student in Physics at Stanford University with a long-standing passion for teaching. I have over seven years of experience tutoring and teaching math and physics at the high school, college, and graduate degree levels, and there's nothing that makes me happier than seeing my students succeed and thrive. I've previously tutored with the National Honor Society, the University of Chicago's Harper Tutors program, and the American Physical Society's Bridge Program for students from...

I am a PhD student in Physics at Stanford University with a long-standing passion for teaching. I have over seven years of experience tutoring and teaching math and physics at the high school, college, and graduate degree levels, and there's nothing that makes me happier than seeing my students succeed and thrive. I've previously tutored with the National Honor Society, the University of Chicago's Harper Tutors program, and the American Physical Society's Bridge Program for students from underrepresented backgrounds. I also help teach college physics at Stanford.

I actually struggled a lot with math & physics myself when I first started out, but, using the learning tools that I built over the last ten years, I went from being near the bottom of my class in high school to being where I am today. Along the way, I earned some of the nation's most prestigious scholarships for physics students including the Goldwater Scholarship and the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and achieved the highest scores possible on the ACT, SAT Math + Critical Reading, GRE Quantitative Reasoning, and over 15 AP exams.

The point is, I know what it's like to struggle with math and physics, and I also have the tools and strategies--in addition to the patience, experience, and knack for explaining--needed to help my students achieve their full potential.

B.S. in Math w/ Honors from the University of Chicago. Coursework in Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Statistics, Upper Level & Graduate Math

PhD Candidate in Theoretical Physics at Stanford University; B.A. in Physics w/ Honors from the University of Chicago. Coursework in High School and AP Physics, Classical Mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism, Quantum Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Physics Lab, Cosmology, Quantum Computing, General Relativity, and String Theory

Struggling with math or physics? Just need some extra guidance before the big test? I'm here to help! Reach out to me here on Wyzant for a quick response and flexible scheduling :)

Calculus

Calculus

I earned a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam and an A in Multivariable Calculus in high school. I earned all A's in multiple upper level/graduate level math and physics courses involving calculus in college at the University of Chicago (where I earned a B.S. with Honors in Mathematics) and in grad school at Stanford. I use calculus daily in my job as a theoretical physicist.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

Took multivariable calculus and linear algebra in high school (earned an A and college credit for both courses) and took many more classes involving these subjects as a math and physics major at the University of Chicago and as a theoretical physics PhD candidate at Stanford University. I use both subjects every day in my job as a theoretical physics researcher.
Physics

Physics

I am a current PhD candidate and published researcher in theoretical physics at Stanford University. I hold a B.A. in Physics with Honors from the University of Chicago and a Masters in Physics from Stanford University. I have previously tutored physics with the National Honor Society, the University of Chicago Harper Tutors program, and the American Physical Society's Bridge Program and I have helped teach physics at Stanford University (5+ years total experience). I have been fortunate to have received some of the most prestigious awards for physics students such as the Goldwater Scholarship and the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I earned a 1600 on my SAT and a 36 on my ACT in high school. I regularly tutor math and work at Stanford as a theoretical physicist.

Very knowledgeable

Had my first lesson on AP Physics C. Adel is very knowledgeable and great at explaining the concepts. He came up with his own example questions and showed me how to solve it, which is very helpful for me.
