Hi! I'm Oliver, and I'm currently an undergraduate at Stanford majoring in mathematics. I completed the Art of Problem Solving curriculum through Calculus (equivalent to the AP Calculus BC course), and have also taken multivariable calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and probability. I enjoy the problem-solving aspect of mathematics, and I don't think every problem exists to be solved immediately; oftentimes, a good problem is connected to an underlying concept.

Previously, I was a math summer camp (Ross Mathematics Program) junior counselor and then counselor, where I mentored high school students aged 14-16 in number theory, group theory, and linear algebra. As a counselor at summer camp, I lectured to a group of four for 90 minutes each weekday. Additionally, gave students live one-on-one feedback on their problem sets, with constructive feedback on both their mathematical reasoning and proof-writing skills.

Since 2022, I have tutored high school students following rigorous curricula, including Davidson Online High School, in algebra, geometry, precalculus, probability, and linear algebra. I will typically help students figure out how to approach their homework problems, and let them finish the solutions on their own. Additionally, if they have graded exams available, I will walk them through their exam solutions and how they can improve (e.g. techniques to spot arithmetic mistakes on a real test). I have found that different programs teach math differently. I'm adaptable to whatever approach your program is taking, and if the student is able to show me the applicable lecture notes during the tutoring session, this will be helpful.

On a logistical note, I require 24-hour cancellation notice, and my schedule unfortunately may change once during the middle of a traditional semester due to Stanford's quarter system.

I competed in math competitions during middle and high school, including MATHCOUNTS and the AMC series. In my final year of middle school, I ran the practices for my MATHCOUNTS team. I also qualified for the AIME five times through the AMC 12, scoring 7 on the AIME in 11th grade.
