Hi! My name is Annika, and I’m an undergraduate at Stanford University double majoring in Materials Engineering and Music. I offer both college or summer program application essay support, and music theory or composition lessons depending on your goals.
Essay Revisions & Applications:
I’ve worked with friends and peers on their college and summer program applications, offering support from brainstorming to final edits. I helped one student with her Columbia application—she got in! I’ve also helped others craft cold emails that successfully landed them lab positions at places like Georgia Tech. My own college application cycle was highly successful as well: I was accepted to Stanford, MIT, multiple Ivy League schools, and Duke, among others. I applied as a double major in engineering and music, so I’m comfortable helping with both STEM and arts/humanities-focused applications. I also understand how to position interdisciplinary interests and make your unique background stand out.
Music Composition & Theory:
I’ve studied music theory and composition since I was 8 years old and have won multiple national and international awards for original works. I was a national finalist for the ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Awards (ages 13–30) and a finalist in the Music International Grand Prix, where I premiered my work at Lincoln Center. I also took AP Music Theory my freshman year of high school and scored a 5 on the exam.
Though I’m newer to tutoring in music, I have experience teaching in other contexts. I’ve led science workshops for elementary and middle school students, which helped me develop a patient and encouraging teaching style. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel confident asking questions and exploring new ideas.
