I am currently pursuing a Master of Science in Computer Science at the University of Southern California (USC), and have done my Undergraduate at University of California: Irvine (UCI) studying Computer Science and Engineering. While my main focus is with programming, I have taken and passed all graduate required courses in Mathematics, including Vector Calculus, Advanced Physics, Circuit Analysis, and Numerical Analysis.
I have had 4 previous tutoring positions. The first was volunteering for Reading Partners, where I helped Elementary students with English comprehension, primarily through short vocabulary activities and read-alongs. I have also tutored Middle School students in Mathematics when I was a part of StudentNest, where I helped struggling students by teaching Algebra and Geometry. For my last 2 positions, I have tutored undergraduate students as a Learning Assistant and as a STEM Tutoring Hub tutor, where I would help students 1-on-1 with problems they had for Physics, Programming, and Math, with a primary emphasis on Calculus level Mathematics. The biggest lesson I learned in these positions is how different each person comes into tutoring is, with their varying grasps of understanding the fundamentals. The most effective way I found is to always ask questions on each and every step I show, and to fix any underlying issues first before going into complex problems or helping with homework.
