Competition Math/Algebra 1 & 2, Competent Mathematics Major

Hi everyone! I am a competent mathematics major with experience from Noetic all the way through the Putnam. I got 20/20 on Noetic in 5th grade, made statewide MathCounts, made USAMO multiple times, and got a Putnam Question correct. I also got a perfect score on the math section of the SAT.

I have been tutoring for 2 years. I have been a teaching aide before as well as a impromptu substitute teacher while I was in high school. I have helped my personal students with MathCounts, AMC, and Algebra, with success.

I teach in a direct, to the point style. My emphasis is on getting my students to get the right answer independently as fast as possible, instead of worrying about minor details or technicalities. I believe being able to produce accurate results is the fundamental building block of mathematics and should come before attempting to "understand" theory. I don't believe in modern "conceptual understanding" approaches.

I prefer working with middle school or early high school students. They are the group I have experience working with and I know what works well in terms of retaining content and building skills with this group.
