My name is Tyler Clark (he/him). I am a writer/poet from California. I have a BA in English with a Creative Writing emphasis and a MA in Terrorism Studies where I researched cult behavior and extremist ideologies. I was most recently published in the horror anthology Behind the Shadows by Ink’d Publishing released in September 2023. My stories have been the recipients of several awards including second place in the Return of the Night Owl contest in 2022, and Honorable Mention in the Writers of the Future Contest in 2022. My favorite genres to write are horror and fantasy, but I've been known to write the occasional sci-fi or literary fiction story. I write short stories, mostly, but I am finishing the second draft of my first novel. My wife and I live in California where we raise a cat.
My tutoring approach is to help writers find their voice through constructive feedback and workshopping, beginning with large-scale issues such as theme, character, and pacing, then working down to the granular level of sentences and word choices. I structure my tutoring to the student's goals, whether it be publication in short fiction magazines or larger projects such as completing a novel.
