About Christine

Bio

I am an aspiring and developing math educator with 3 years of education experience and have worked with Wyzant since July of 2023. I recently got my Master's Degree in Education from National University and my undergrad Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies from Maranatha Baptist University in Wisconsin in May 2018. I have taught junior high math for 1 1/2 years as a long term sub and have officially passed my state exam to teach foundational level math (high school math).

In my education experience, I have learned of and applied various teaching methods and instruction to meet the needs and pacing of students where they are at. I don't believe students learn the same way or at the same pace. That being said, I am flexible and am willing to go the extra mile and research more variety of instructional techniques and methods to meet a student's math goal and assist them to advance further into their skills.

I more than happy and willing to work with you on developing goals and finding a variety of methods, teaching styles and ideas on how to better assist you.

My rates for general tutoring is $30 online and $50 in person. My availabilities have shifted since I am now working full time as an 8th grade math teacher teaching both Algebra I & 8th Grade Math.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have taught Algebra I as a math course when I long term subbed for 8th grade math and had the advance students who took Algebra I. I also passed the state board exam Part I which focuses on linear algebra and Algebra I concepts as well as focus on basic arithmetic. I’m currently studying for Part II which focuses on geometry and statistics in order for me to teach higher level math. For now, I stick with what I’ve already taught students and will later teach geometry and other higher level math courses once I pass Part II on my state board exams.

In my long term subbing, I have taught Algebra I and II concepts to students which involved graphing, quadratic functions and equations, and reading and interpreting word problems using variables x and y.
Elementary Math

In my role as a daycare instructor, I’ve assisted students from grades preschool-6th with elementary level math using hands on approaches, fun coloring activities and other activities to help students in making math more applicable and interesting as well as fun and engaging. I’ve also taught 8th grade and 7th grade math for a year and a half and assisted high school students with their math concepts when I would sub for the math classes.
