I graduated from the California State University Los Angeles, which is where I earned a B.A. in History. Also, I hold a California K-12 Mild to Moderate Level II teaching credential with a certificate of autism. Working in education for 10 years has enabled to me support student academically, behaviorally, and socially to reach all of their academic goals. Creating a positive learning environment is important for a student success in academics. Also, I have a strong background in building positive behavior supports plans for students to become successful in the classroom and in their personal life. Also, I can support for all teacher preparation test such as CBEST, Multiple Subject CSET, RICA.
In addition, I have tutored general education K-12 and at the college level for the past 9 years in all academic subjects. Currently, I work with students with significant executive function deficits and slowly emerging reading, writing skills, and mathematical computation skills. As an educator it is imperative that all academic learning strategies are applied when teaching a student a new academic skill. Overall, the function of an educator is to offer academic tools or strategies to make the student successful in all of their academic and life future endeavors. I am a California State Credentialed Special Education teacher and work with students that have demonstrated traits of ADD/ADHD. Working with student with a disabilities has enabled me to offer the students strategies to support them to focus and complete the assigned task.
I have worked with students with autism for over nine years. Working with students with autism, it is very important to understand the characteristics of being on the spectrum of autism. Also, I have completed college coursework and received a certificate of autism from a university.
Working as a classroom teacher I have supported multiple students with choosing a career and having them complete work surveys. To see what activities interest them. Also, I have supported students and adults with mock interviews, resume building, and professional etiquette. Lastly, I model to students how to answer interview questions and sell themselves professionally to a prospective employer.
I have completed the CBEST examination and have passed the examination with a passing score. I have currently hold a verification card demonstrating that I completed the examination. I have tutored multiple aspiring educators that have taken the CBEST to become a sub-teacher in the classroom.
I worked as a California state credentialed special education teacher for six years. Working as a special education teacher has enabled me to support students academically and socially to become successful in the classroom and life. As special education teacher it is imperative that the teacher understands the needs of the student/client so that the expectations are met keep the student progressing towards their life goals and expectations.
