Hi, I'm Kaylee! I graduated summa cum laude from Loyola Marymount University with a B.A. in Screenwriting and received the Michael Peters Award as the program's most outstanding student. My coursework included advanced academic and creative writing, rhetorical arts, media studies, journalism, and leadership. I also scored a 5 on the AP English Literature and Composition exam during my time at Ponderosa High School.
I specialize in writing, public speaking, and college application preparation. I am also happy to guide your aspiring novelist, screenwriting, or filmmaker.
During college, I volunteered as a one-on-one tutor for students ages 14-17 in reading comprehension, essay writing, public speaking and performance, and navigating college applications. At LMU, I guest lectured on introductory screenwriting, Western storytelling traditions, short film writing, and experimental storytelling. As a teaching assistant for a college transition course, I lectured and graded work for classes of over 50 students, covering college-level academics, majors and minors, and time management.
These experiences taught me that students often hear the same advice year after year: "be more specific," "organize your thoughts," or "explain your reasoning." The missing piece is understanding how. I start by identifying where a student gets stuck, then use examples, questions, and relevant explanations to make the next step clearer and less stressful. My goal is to build 'confidence alongside correctness,' helping students understand why an approach works and how to use it independently.
My Jesuit education shaped my belief in educating the whole person. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and recognize how the skills we're building matter beyond a grade or an acceptance letter.
