I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a focus in Elementary Education and a Specialization in Arts Integration from Cal State Northridge in May 2017, simultaneously receiving my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential. After my first year teaching 7th grade, I returned to Cal State Northridge to pursue a Master of Arts in Secondary Mathematics Education, which I completed in May 2020. To expand my expertise in higher-level math, I independently studied to pass the CSET Mathematics exams, earning my Single Subject Teaching Credential in July 2024.

With over nine years of teaching experience in secondary classrooms, plus an additional year of elementary student teaching, I bring a wealth of practical knowledge and passion for math education. I approach math instruction by first introducing concepts through visual models, such as tape diagrams, before connecting them to procedural fluency. I encourage students to choose the method that makes the most sense to them, whether visual or algebraic, so they can develop confidence and understanding in a way that works best for their learning style. My lessons are carefully structured, beginning with a review of prior knowledge and key vocabulary, then gradually building toward grade-level standards to ensure a strong and lasting foundation in mathematics.

I have taught students ranging in age from 12 to 18 in traditional general education classroom settings. During my student teaching, I taught students ages 5 to 8. Since August 2017, I have led my own classrooms, bringing nine years of hands-on teaching experience to support student learning. My experience has focused on fostering understanding and growth within structured classroom environments, guiding students through both foundational concepts and grade-level standards.

Approved Subjects

CBEST

CBEST

Before entering the credential program at California State University, Northridge, I completed the CBEST after extensively reviewing and strengthening skills in English language arts and mathematics. Through diligent study habits, effective test-taking strategies, and consistent preparation techniques, I successfully passed all three domains of the exam. My strongest performance was in mathematics, where I earned high marks across all assessed skill areas, including computation, problem solving, and numerical reasoning. In addition, the study guides and preparation methods I developed were shared with peers, many of whom also achieved successful results on the exam.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education, completing coursework in the core subjects taught across elementary grade levels. I have successfully passed the CBEST, CSET Multiple Subjects, and RICA exams required for California teacher credentialing. Additionally, I have student teaching experience in both kindergarten and third grade classrooms, supporting students with a variety of learning needs and academic abilities.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have nine years of experience teaching secondary mathematics. While I have taught grades 7–11, the majority of my experience has been in middle school mathematics, particularly grades 7 and 8, where pre-algebra concepts are a primary focus. My instructional approach emphasizes building strong conceptual understanding before moving to procedural fluency. I use visual models, multiple representations, and real-world connections to help students make sense of mathematical concepts, develop confidence, and build lasting problem-solving skills. My goal is to meet students where they are in their understanding and provide the support they need to succeed with grade-level mathematics.
Salsa Dancing

Salsa Dancing

In the spring of 2015, I was a member of the Cal State Northridge Salsa Libre Performance Team. Throughout the semester, I committed to rehearsing for four hours each week, where I focused on learning salsa and bachata dance styles. Beginning in April 2025, I started taking salsa dance lessons at Salsa with Stephanie Stevenson. Over the course of a year, I attended weekly classes covering levels 1 through 3. My dedication led to joining the Intermediate Salsa Team, which performs at a variety of festivals and events. My dance experience includes both partner and individual salsa dancing. My expertise is stronger in individual salsa routines.
