I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Rhetoric from the University of Illinois and am currently pursuing a master’s degree in History at UMass Boston. My academic training focuses on close reading, research, and clear writing, which allows me to tutor both history and English in a practical way. In addition to my formal education, I am the writer and cohost of an award-winning American history podcast, where I regularly research, script, and explain complex historical topics for a broad audience in a fun, engaging way.
In addition, I worked for years as a corporate project manager, gaining crucial skills in planning, organizing, collaborating, and mentoring. I also have experience tutoring middle school and high school students in English and history through one-on-one sessions. This work has included helping students improve reading comprehension, organize essays, develop strong thesis statements, and prepare for exams and major writing assignments. I have also coached college students on academic essay writing, with an emphasis on structure, argument clarity, and revision strategies. Currently, I’m gearing up to teach a course on the American Founders to senior lifelong learners in an online setting that combines lecture, discussion, and close analysis of historical texts.
My tutoring style is structured, supportive, and student-centered. I tailor each session to the student’s age, goals, and learning style—whether that means breaking down a challenging history topic, strengthening writing mechanics, or helping a student gain confidence in their analytical skills. I work with students from middle school through college, as well as adult learners, and I focus on building skills students can use independently long after our sessions end.
