UC Berkeley (Electrical Engineering)
Santa Clara University (Master's)
My name is Dean. I have been tutoring for the past eleven years in Physics, Math, and Chemistry. I started tutoring when I was an undergrad in Electrical Engineering at UC Berkeley. At first, I started helping my friends with their classes in math, physics, and chemistry. As I continued working with them, they kept telling me things such as "You should really consider being a teacher," "You are really good at explaining things," "Your explanation is so clear," or "I would have aced my calculus and physics classes in high school if my teachers had taught the way you do." Some of them offered to pay me if I would tutor them on a regular basis, which I did. I continued to tutor throughout my undergrad years as well as my graduate years at Santa Clara University. In fact, I enjoyed teaching so much that I kept on doing it to this day. Through the years, I have worked mostly with junior high and high schoolers, but I have also worked with kids as young as 4th graders and adults at university or community colleges. My number one goal is the academic success of my students. Thank you for your consideration. Hi,

Dean is calm and confident about the subject matter and meets students wherever they are in their knowledge. In addition to tutoring not he subject matter, Dean gave my son confidence in what he already knew which is very helpful going into tests.
He taught me Physics. Dean takes the time to explain all the sections. He is knowledgeable and very patient in answering all the questions.
Patience and doing things step by step. Taught the importance of not rushing through a question . Methodical way of solving problems
Dean is very helpful and accommodating. He makes the topic (Physics) easy to understand. My son enjoys his classes with Dean. Thanks.
I am pleased to have Dean as a tutor for my son. He tutored my older son a few years ago and gave him much needed support. Now Dean is giving that great support again.
Dean was very helpful in helping get my high schooler to a higher level of understanding in physics and pre-calc. He was always on time, was always prepared and he did a good job of helping illuminate the subjects so that the material was understandable. We highly recommend Dean to others!
Dean is always on time. He is professional and responsive. He is not only very knowledgeable of the subject, but also able to teach it well. I would highly recommend him.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
