Bio

I have tutored elementary to high school students for almost 30 years in various levels of math, French, and English. I graduated from SCU in 1994 with a major in Finance and a minor in French. I spent 14 years as a commercial lender and am now staying home with my family (and working from home) which allows me the flexibility to continue tutoring.

I have done tutoring for so long because I find it very rewarding to see a student's self-esteem improve as the grade rises. Sometimes a little extra one-on-one time is just what a student needs to increase understanding and test results. I try to set the stage for a comfortable environment where the student is comfortable expressing the lack of understanding.

At that level, we cover basic math, decimal to percent to fraction conversions, improper fractions, mixed fractions, problem solving, perimeter, etc. I am a very patient tutor who finds ways to explain a concept to the student on his/her level so that it is easier to understand. I create a relaxed environment through building rapport with the student so that s/he can feel comfortable in expressing the need for help.
