Hello! My name is Jidong (John), and I am a native Chinese speaker with nearly 10 years of teaching experience in the United States. I earned my Associate Degree in Accounting from Shanxi University of Finance and Economics and grew up in a family of teachers, which inspired my passion for education. While living in China, I excelled in Chinese writing and speaking, and after moving to the U.S., I discovered how rewarding it is to help students learn Chinese in a fun and supportive way. I have worked as an OSF after-school teacher, an FCSN Independent Living Skills teacher, and a volunteer in the FCSN adult day program. Most of my experience has been teaching Chinese privately in 1-on-1 settings, especially for students with special needs.
I specialize in teaching beginner to intermediate Chinese students in reading, writing, pronunciation, and everyday conversation skills. My teaching style is patient, visual, and interactive. I use flashcards, pictures, videos, and daily-life examples to make learning easier and more engaging. I also focus on practical communication and routine language learning so students can feel confident using Chinese in real situations. Because of my experience working with special needs students, I understand that every student learns differently, and I always adapt my lessons to fit each student’s individual needs and learning pace.
