Hello!
I am an AP Calculus student with A’s in math throughout elementary, middle, and high school, and I passed both the AP Precalculus and AP Statistics exams. I have local tutoring experience and recently mastered the same material many students are currently learning. This lets me explain concepts in a clear, and relatable way, teaching students in ways that helped me understand material. I understand where students commonly get stuck and how to guide them through challenging steps without overwhelming them, taking one small challenge at a time.
Outside the classroom, I am about to be a college soccer player, and am a strong believer in logical thinking, discipline, and steady improvement, which shape my approach to teaching.
My goal as a tutor is to provide clear, step-by-step explanations across all subjects so students understand the reasoning behind the work rather than just memorizing procedures. I offer homework support designed to build independence, test prep with targeted practice problems and effective study strategies, and help breaking down large problems into smaller, more manageable steps. I also can offer review of class material to help students catch up on missed concepts and strengthen foundational skills that will help students succeed long term.
A typical session goes like this: I start by asking the student for a few concepts to focus on, then we go through a quick lesson or review. I then check for understanding with practice problems, and finish with some goal setting to help students succeed in the classroom. I try my best to adapt to each student’s pace and learning style, and encourage questions so students feel comfortable talking with me.
I am available for one-time study sessions for tests or ongoing support and aim to be organized and easy to work with for both students and families. Please feel free to reach out if you’re looking for patient, supportive, and easy-to-understand math help!
Best,
Micah H.
