I’m an excellent tutor who really enjoys helping students grow, which is fundamentally what learning is about: expanding your skills and your depth of knowledge, as well as your ability to make connections. Once I get a clear sense of your aptitude and needs, we can start building a strong foundation together that will help you throughout your educational journey. I taught English and History to 9th graders for six years, and still run into students who thank me, which is both gratifying and humbling. Through conversations with them, I can see the enduring effect of the work I do.
I would say scaffolding is one key to the success of my approach - skills and knowledge need to be built on those foundations I mentioned above, and I make sure you have that fundamental strength before we move on to the next skill or topic.
I have degrees in Music and Music Composition, though I never taught music in high school. I play a bunch of instruments and write music and words, and am passionate about the music of other cultures. I also have secondary credentials in English, History and Music. I have received extensive training in improving reading comprehension and expanding your skills in both academic and creative writing.
Some people find me funny. I don’t know, that’s so subjective. But I do know I will improve your learning.
