I am an experienced and effective elementary school teacher with LAUSD and I have over 30 years of experience. I am currently a second-grade teacher, but I have tutored children of all ages from Kindergarten to sixth grade. I currently am grade level representative at my school, and I frequently attend workshops and professional development classes to further my expertise. I also have experience with Common Core methods. I pride myself on being able to work with reluctant readers, and each year my students show substantial progress. English is my first language, and I have an A level fluency in Spanish from LAUSD. I lived in Mexico for three years and taught English as a second language in a private school for children and adults.
I am willing and able to tutor students in all elementary school subject areas including English as a second language and Spanish for middle school and high school students. I have a relatively flexible schedule and would be willing to meet from 4:00 on the majority of the weekdays. I live in Santa Monica, and I would be willing to meet at a local library. I will be charging $45.00 dollars an hour, and I will try my best to help all of my students succeed. Stefanie has been a wonderful find. With an Intimate understanding of the course she helped tutor my 11th grader in level 3 Spanish. Not only is she knowlegable but her teaching skills are excellent. She far exceeded other tutors ability to bring understanding to the subject matter. As well as being prepared, patient and professional in every way. I highly recommend her!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
Stefanie was my intermediate level college tutor for Spanish. Let me explain that I was in no way, shape, or form proficient in Spanish before seeing Stephanie and was very worried about not passing the class. When I began to see Stefanie, she was always on time, prepared, and always kept me on track with my work by bringing extra handouts and worksheets for me to work on with her and on my own. By providing me with the necessary tools, she made me feel self assured and confident when I turned in classwork and took exams. After my first exam I saw major improvements in my grade. Stephanie truly cares about her students understanding the content and succeeding. I attribute my success to having chose Stefanie as my tutor.
Thank you so much Julia.
My son was having a difficult time learning Spanish. His grades were falling and he just wasn't getting it. Stefanie was able to get through to him, and through great patience, taught him Spanish. As a result, his comprehension and his grades greatly improved. Thank you, Stefanie!
Thank you so much for your kind words! It was a pleasure to work with your son!
Stephanie is a great teacher and well knowledgeable. My son had been struggling with Spanish for the past few months. Since Stephanie has been tutoring him his knowledge has gone up a lot and he's confidence has improved significantly.
Thank you very much. It is a pleasure to work with such a dedicated student.
Stefanie was well prepared and was able to connect with our child and concentrate on any difficulties she was having. A great tutor for any age group.
You are very kind thank you. It was a pleasure.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been an elementary school teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District for over 30 years. I continue to participate in up to date trainings about Common Core Standards, Math and Language Arts.
I have had training in intervention strategies for Language Arts and Math.
I have been an elementary school teacher in Los Angeles for more than 30 years and I feel that I have tremendous experience to offer. I have been trained in the Open Court Method of instruction and now I am using the California Treasures program in my classroom. I have had many years experience teaching at the kindergarten and second grade level where phonics instruction is essential.
I have been a bilingual Spanish teacher with LAUSD for more than 5 years and I have A level fluency in Spanish from the district. I lived in Mexico for more than 3 years and I feel that my fluency level will be beneficial to students. Because I have been an elementary teacher for more than 30 years, I understand how students learn and know how to help them achieve.
