I am a UCLA PhD student in Urban Planning with more than 15 years of teaching, coaching, and mentoring experience. Whether you're preparing for an AP English exam or the SAT/ACT Writing section, writing a college admissions essay, learning GIS or research methods, or simply trying to become more comfortable with technology, I enjoy helping students build confidence and achieve their goals.
My academic background includes a PhD in progress and a master's degree in Urban Planning from UCLA, as well as a bachelor's degree with honors in Urban Studies from Brown University. My current research as a PhD student focuses on transportation planning and quantitative analysis, giving me extensive experience with statistics, academic writing, and communicating complex ideas clearly.
Before graduate school, I taught AP English Language and Composition and other high school English courses in North Carolina, where I also held a high school mathematics teaching credential. I later worked in intercollegiate athletics at Brown University, collaborating with the admissions office in recruiting future student-athletes.
I've taught classes of nearly 40 students and also worked one-on-one with dozens of learners. I have taught, coached, and mentored students from a wide range of backgrounds, ages, and experience levels. My teaching style combines expectations with patience and flexibility. I believe every student can improve with the right structured guidance, and I tailor each lesson to meet students where they are.
In addition to working with high school and college students, I enjoy helping older adults become more comfortable with everyday technology—from setting up new devices to using email, smartphones, streaming services, and other digital tools with confidence.
Whether you're aiming for a higher test score, looking to become a stronger writer, trying for admission to your dream school, or simply gaining confidence in a new skill, I am happy to help you reach your goals.
