Hi, I’m David! I specialize in SAT and ACT test prep. I graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor’s in Biology and later earned my Master’s in Public Health from George Washington University while working as an engineer in pharmaceutical research.
In my time as a tutor I have had success in increasing my students' scores in a relatively short time period no matter where they are starting from. I have worked with students who had starting ACT scores in the low 20's who were able to improve into the high 20's in six weeks and students starting with low 30's scores see big gains in their weakest subjects helping to eke out those last few points.
As a former scientist, my teaching experience comes from training dozens of colleagues on the principles behind the procedures and experiments we conducted as part of our research. Of all the projects I’ve worked on the most satisfying part of my career has been figuring out how to effectively communicate an idea and seeing that knowledge being put to use.
My own learning style benefits from taking a step back from the problem to break it into manageable pieces. I find that this approach is effective when teaching too. I've often been told that I am able to explain a concept that previously felt difficult in a very straight-forward and clear manner.
