Hello! I’m Joshua, and I’m a Stanford-Educated rock guitarist based in sunny SoCal! I’ve performed at Vans with rock legends Sum 41, played at the largest music convention with Donner Guitars, as well as have headlined at shows in SoCal (Whiskey a Go-Go, Troubadour, etc.). I love to teach metal and rock guitar, and some of my personal favorite bands include Iron Maiden, Avenged Sevenfold, and Metallica!

I have been teaching music education - specifically guitar - for over 4 years now, and just made the switch to independent in-person and online tutoring. Before my teaching career, I was a summer camp counselor for the School of Rock teaching kids ages 7-15 how to apply better techniques to their instrument, read music, or simply just learn a few chords and rock out! I also ran a music theory club, teaching young adult students to fully understand the language of music, whether it be reading treble/bass clef or knowing the modes of music. Currently, I’ve been teaching one-on-one in-person lessons for about 3 years now.
Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced, there are plenty of tips and tricks the guitar has - I myself am still learning them! And on top of those silly pentatonic scales your uncle taught you, we will also go over three-note per string exercises, how to come up with your own sweep-picking patterns, or simply learning a difficult song to impress those dinner guests at a get-together. I like to teach using a method of trial and error, and allowing you as the student to ask questions in order for you to truly understand the instrument. It's okay if you don't know what the Dorian mode is - ask away! Asking questions along the way will have you becoming a guitar master in no time!
If wanting to play like Eddie Van Halen or that guy on Guitar Hero is your dream, contact me - we’ll make it happen! Shred on!
