Education:
I graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in May of 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. After years of groundbreaking research I conducted at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, I received a full scholarship to U.C.S.B. that covered tuition and housing. Throughout my time at UC Santa Barbara, I became a Research Assistant for the Department of Genetics and then the Department of Ecology under world renowned professors and doctors. Growing up with a teacher as a mother, and a sister that teaches as a professor, I gained an insight into the world of teaching and tutoring from a young age.
Tutoring Background:
I was appointed as a teachers aid to an elementary classroom when I was in high school and started tutoring students ranging from K-12 and even adults as I was researching and going to school. I have worked for numerous tutoring companies and then began tutoring privately outside of the school setting. This allowed me to gain a better insight into tutoring and teaching students from all ages new concepts. I have tutored all subjects ranging from Science, Mathematics, English, test prep and the Social Studies. I have tutored and worked with students that have various economic and cultural backgrounds, test preparation and executive functioning.Through various methods of teaching and tutoring, I have come to love the feeling of when a student passes a test with flying colors and thanks me for helping them. I also thoroughly enjoy the positive feedback I have received from parents and teachers combined, and the positive impact I have on students' academic and personal lives.
Purpose:
Nothing makes me humbler and content than knowing I helped shape the way a student thinks about a subject and building solid pillars of understanding in the process. Growing up as a kid I was always curious about the natural world around me.
