I possess an extensive and diverse teaching background. Recently, I taught English Composition and Screenwriting online at Southern New Hampshire University, and American Literature and AP English Composition at Mary Star of the Sea High School. I also taught History of American Cinema, Women in Film, Capstone Project, English Composition, Introduction to Film, Creative Writing, Art History, and Documentary Film online at Charter Oak State College, Western International University, LA College International, Ashford University, and Tiffin University. The experiences from these institutions provide me with the valuable understanding and the preparation necessary to teach students in an intensive learning environment. Furthermore, instructing at the higher education level offers me the opportunity to continually refine my teaching skills and improve the students’ writing to prepare them for their futures.
Another area that strengthens my qualification as an English tutor is my academic experience. While teaching American Literature at Mary Star of the Sea High School, I developed the students’ comprehension of literary analysis through close readings, critical evaluation, and examining literary devices. Literary analytics allows the students to not only build a canon of referential work, but also contextualize the constantly changing world around them. As an AP English Language teacher, I guided the students through the complexities of rhetorical analysis, argumentative writing, and synthesis to prepare them for the challenging AP Exam. Additionally, I have experience as a reader for the AP English Language exam. Scoring student responses provides valuable insight into the methodologies for writing argumentative and rhetorical analysis essays.
